Customized Bible Questions & Answers

What do we mean by “Custom” Scriptures?

We simply mean a paperback Bible or New Testament with a cover that you design using your art and photos or from one of our templates.

Why would I want to customize God’s Word?

Sometimes people you’re ministering to haven’t read the Bible. They hold various preconceptions (and misconceptions) about the Bible. A black leather book with the words “Holy Bible” on the front often reinforces their thoughts that God’s Word is a collection of ancient writings that are not applicable to life today.

We know from years of working with churches, ministries, and individuals that people do judge the Book by its cover. An appealing, custom-made cover will more likely engage people with God’s Word—and change their lives for eternity.

We help churches nationwide and national ministries like Young Life, Campus Crusade, Fellowship of Christian Cowboys, Christian Motorcyclists Association, Prison Fellowship, and many others create and print Bibles and New Testaments that appeal to the audiences they serve.

Isn’t it expensive to print custom Scripture?

You’ll be surprised at how easy and inexpensive it is to produce a Scripture designed specifically for you and/or your organization. We selected a Bible and New Testament from our most popular English translation, the NIV and Spanish translation, the NVI. We print these Scriptures in huge quantities. By limiting printing to just a few formats, we generated an economy of scale that benefits you. These “book blocks,” as printers call them, are in the warehouse waiting for your paperback cover design.

What’s the minimum order for Bibles or New Testaments?

The minimum order is 250 units. However, the more units your order, the more you save. If you need a custom Scripture, but need less than 250 copies, consider instead our imprint options. (We can imprint as few as 96 Bibles for you.) You can learn about our Imprint service at http://www.ibsdirect.com/t-customimprints.aspx?skinid=1 or call 1.800.266.6364.

When you think about the opportunities to give away Scriptures, 250 isn’t a very large number. Churches give custom Bibles as a gift to neighborhoods surrounding their church, along with an invitation to attend. Businesses make Bibles available for the asking. Fellowship of Christian Cowboys gives away custom New Testaments at rodeos throughout the country.

How much will a Custom Scripture cost me/my organization?

The easiest way to determine your cost is to Get A Quote. We’ve made a simple table that will quickly show the cost to your organization depending on quantity.

Will the price quote obligate me to an order?

The price quote doesn’t become an order until you sign a formal contract provided by the Custom Cover Expert and fax it back to us at 1.719.867.2896. Once the contract is signed and the cover design and editorial are approved, only then will the cover design go to the printer.

Is the quote process difficult?
Not at all. In fact it consists of only 3 easy steps.

  1. Step 1 – Choose a Scripture Select whether you want a Bible or a New Testament.
  2. Step 2 – Choose a version Select which Bible translation you wish to use: the English translation, New International Version (NIV)  or Spanish translation, Nueva Version Internacional (NVI)
  3. Step 3 – Choose how many you want. You will find our pricing structure on Get A Quote.

Please call us at 1.800.266.6364 or email us at CustomizedBibles@biblica.com to get a formal quote. The price quote doesn’t become an order until you sign a formal contract and fax it back to us at 1.719.867.2896.

Can any design qualify for the cover?

We know you are excited about your church, ministry, organization, and/or event and you want to share your story with people as you share God’s Word. We share your excitement. Our goal is to take your design and message and provide quality covers for your outreach Bibles and New Testaments.

Every custom cover Bible order will be reviewed by Biblica. Biblica reserves the right to refuse any request whose design or editorial content does not meet our ministry standards.

Will any changes be made to my cover design once it has been submitted?

As stated above, every cover will be reviewed by Biblica to assure that it meets Biblica’s ministry standards. We request that NIV or NVI, depending on which translation you choose, be included in the cover design either on the front cover or at the foot of the spine. You can incorporate it when you create your design or we can add it once your art has been submitted.

You will see a proof if any changes are made.

How long will it take to get my Bible or New Testament once I have submitted my design and signed the contract?

Once your cover has been approved and is in final form, we ask that you allow at least six weeks to get the Bibles or New Testaments produced. Please allow additional time for shipping your Bibles or New Testaments.

Will I see a proof before it goes to print?

You will have the opportunity see an emailed proof and approve it before the covers are printed.

What do I do if I need to make a change?

If a change needs to be made after cover art has been submitted then you will need to rebuild your cover, resubmit and notify Biblica’s Custom Cover Expert or send us your new art. We ask that changes are made within two business days after the original cover design has been submitted. This will assure that your corrections are made and that we can keep the printing process moving along.

If you find that a correction is needed during the proofing stage, please note that additional charges will apply.

Are the NIV and NVI my only choices in translations as I consider customizing Bibles and New Testaments?

Other translations do not qualify for this Customized Bible service at this time but we can still work with you if you prefer another translation. Please speak with our Custom Cover Expert at 1.800.266.6364.
